Spartacus: War of the Damed Series Finale Review “Victory”

I must say coming into this episode I expected a bitter-sweet end, that is, I knew it would be epic but I also anticipated the death of spartacus because at it’s core this series has stayed true to the history of spartacus.  I must say though that I’m happy that spartacus would fall to someone like Crassus and not Glaber.

The beginning of the episode really shed light on the fact that spartacus’ movement has far surpassed the man himself, so it makes complete sense that they use his name to continue to place fear on the hearts of the romans.

I was also glad to see that Crassus didn’t allow his loss of Tiberius to cloud his judgement, he still is not underestimating Spartacus.

As suspected Gannicus does hold Sybil in his heart which is giving him even more incentive to want to help Spartacus but he still doesn’t seem to embrace that he is as much an integral part of the movement as spartacus is, will he live on to take the leadership roll after the final battle ensues and spartacus meets his demise?  Was a question I asked myself as I watched the episode.  If you’ve watched any of my previous vlogs you would have heard me mention that I think Sybil would be a good thing for Gannicus and in his own words he did say that she was sent to save him and not the other way around, to me that’s proof that she did make him want to become a better man.

Kore made a brave move surrendering herself to go back with Caesar to Crassus but I guess she knew that he wouldn’t kill her because of his love for her as farfetched as it seems though I do wish that he would forgive her.  Since the introduction of Crassus, Kore has been one of the things that make us see his softer side and part of what has made me appeal to his character, that and the fact that he never underestimated spartacus and also had himself trained by a gladiator, he doesn’t see gladiators like the other romans and that makes him admirable.  It was nice to see him preparing himself to face off with spartacus in battle, though if I’m to think about it, it’s almost not a fair fight because spartacus has been fighting all along and has amassed injuries, etc, while crassus has just been waiting for the final stand.

I was brought to tears when spartacus gave the parting speech, it was really touching to see the love the people have for spartacus.

Crassus bringing the fire balls to the battle was overkill in my opinion, I think he went from underestimating spartacus to overestimating spartacus, I guess an honourable battle went out the back door when tiberius died? Then when he sent the scout to summon spartacus I was thinking hmm Crassus has something up his sleeve now, because it made no sense to me that he was prepping himself to face off with spartacus when he brought those fire balls which could end spartacus before he even got to fight with him.  I must say the talk between crassus and spartacus was very exciting, we got to actually see the similsrities between both men up close and I bet they both saw that in another life they probably could have been friends, the handshake at the end just proves the twisted connection they now have.

I figured the truth about Kore and Tiberius would come out at some point I just didn’t envision it would be through spartacus but that was only because I didn’t forsee Crassus having a talk with him before battle, I too thought that Kore should have told him because even though his faith in tiberius was strengthened at the time I think he would have beleived Kore over tiberius, what he would have done about it I’m not sure but I don’t doubt he would have believed her, anyways this made for an exciting twist in the storyline, I thought maybe there was hope for forgiveness of kore afterall and that proved to be true.

Spartacus gazing at the map of thrace brought me back to season 1  when he had just gone into battle alongside Glaber and afterwards how they took him as a slave, those were the days, well at least before ensalvement.  But just thinking about how the show has evolved from those days and the days of the arena and batiatus, it has been an awesome ride.

Also it seemed Gannicus finally embraced the leadership position spartacus has been trying to get him to embrace all season. I waited to see what final plan spartacus had up his sleeve, if the promo was any indication I thought part of that plan would have him leaping off a ramp.

I feel like when Crassus gave his little speech to his men there was no heart in it, I think he doesn’t care about the so-called glory of rome, he just wants to  gain respect from rome by beating spartacus, I am not saying there’s anything wrong with his motives but  he’s definitely cloaking his ambitions with that speech.

When I saw the trap spartacus layed for the romans I couldn’t hold in my screams of excitement, then an archer top off, can’t expect any less from the bringer of rain am I right? and of course I knew it wouldn’t shock Crassus as much as it would other romans, it just made it that much more exciting, caesar was visibly shocked though which I found hilarious, you would think his time among them would have taught him that spartacus is no imbecile.

and as if the trench and archers wasn’t enough, our bringer of rain layed those ramps on top of the romans and lunged forth, that my friends proves my earlier prediction from the promo of that being part of the spartacus’ master plan, I didn’t envision all of what occured though, saying it was awesome is an understatement, now I did see crassus look slightly surprised when that started to happen.

Agron showed form with the weapon Nazir fashioned for him, I’m glad he got to stand on the field of battle.

Every time I thought the episode couldn’t get more exciting, another strategy from spartacus rears it’s head, when Gannicus and the men rode in behind crassus I couldn’t stifle my screams of excitement once again, I know all season I’ve been prediciting spartacus’ fall but all these magnificent ideas spartacus came up with made it harder ad harder for me to hold to my opinion, I felt myself clinging to the hope that he would win this battle.

Glad to see that at the end of the day Crassus still kept himself in check and didn’t panick, formidable foe indeed.

The salecian proved himself worthy in battle. RIP.

I bet Crassus never expected beat down off his horse by spartacus, but really he hasn’t underestimated spartacus’ strategy and intelligence all along so why did he underestimate his fighting abilities, I mean spartacus fought other gladiators too not just romans and won, so just because crassus has training as a gladiator means he can defeat spartacus so easily, I mean he’s never even been on the sands of the arena before, let’s face it he’s only fought one person/gladiator to the death.  It was somewhat disappointing to him allow the soldiers to wisk him away after spartacus gave him a flesh wound, what happened to all the confidence he had before and that need to fight spartacus?

I was excited but scared to see the inevitable showdown between gannicus and caeser and also spartacus and crassus because the looming threat of the series staying true to history has been present this whole season.

RIP saxa.

I prepared myself to see a lot of characters I love die in this finale.  As morbid as this sounds better they die than they leave us hanging with some uncertain future for these characters for all eternity.

RIP Naevia.

RIP other dude that I can’t recall your name but you’ve been around since beginning.

Even with the wounds that put spartacus at a disadvantage, I am 100% sure he would have won if the soldiers didn’t come to Crassus’ aid. I’m sure Crassus say his life before his eyes.

Gannicus and Caesar now, Caesar is a fassy, he’s a vag, he wouldn’t even show down with Gannicus by himself.  I must admit I did not see this end for Gannicus, I thought all along he would lead the rebellion in Spartacus’ stead.

I must admit, I know Crassus has his ways but I didn’t expect him to crucify Kore, I probably should have though, I mean he did sentence his own son to decimation for disobeying his command.

RIP Spartacus.

That was an epic finale to an epic series. I am going to miss it dearly.

I love that they showed all past characters in the end credits and also including Andi Witfield.

The Walking Dead Home Review (TeeVee Genie)

Summary of Points

Rick is seriously going coocoo, either that r Lori’s ghost is trying to tell him something from beyond, there are so many supernatural shows out there I can’t rule out the possibility that she’s an actual entity.

Andrea is really annoying to me I don’t get how she can be this ignorant, well since day one she was dense but it’s like it has transfered now to this situation with the governor, I think maybe the only time she had any kind of sense was when she was with Michone and even then Michone was the one who had sense and she just followed.

The governor now, that man needs to die, I had a soft spot for him in the beginning because he’s so darn pretty but that’s not enough to cover up all the rubbish he has done and will continue to do if he stays alive.

Glenn needs to calm down for a quick minute because he’ll start making imbecilic decisions and get himself killed and that would not be even slightly cool, Glenn is someone I respected from the beginning for his ingenuity and all that good stuff he always could get himself and the others out of situations.

Daryl & Merle now, we need Daryl and I know Daryl wants to go back to Rick and the others cus they became like family to him, yes Merle is his brother but at the same time merle is an ass and I dunno if he can be trusted anymore.

I swear Milton is too soft and easily spooked to survive in this walker world, I fear he won’t last long but I could be wrong I mean as long as he stays under the wing of the governor and the governor doesn’t die or he find someone just as strong to work with then he should be fine but as far as protecting himself he kinda sucks, I’m hoping the governor dies though so I dunno what will occur with Milton.

I hope Maggie & Glenn resolve their issues soon..

Hershell is always the voice of reason, I’d hoped he would convince Glenn not to go but that didn’t work out.

I can’t say it enough how much the governor needs to die… that fiend needs to go back to the fiery chasm from whence he came, kmt, man dared to overrun the prison with walkers..

I hope Rick & the others get some fiery vengeance and that andrea finally wises up cus among all the other rubbish her denseness is highly irritating, i mean she’s almost just as ignorant as the people in the town.

#TrueBlood S5E10 “Gone, Gone, Gone” Review

This episode was an improvement on last week’s episode I guess since this season is coming to a close and everything is being tied together.

It seems one of my theories on Bill’s behavior may just be wrong, I was thinking he was just behaving like this but had some kind of plan up his sleeve but now I’m not so sure, I mean, betraying Eric is one thing but observing his general behavior is really showing that the blood of Lilith really got to him, it may just take some Fae power to blast this sucker back to normal.

With Eric and Nora now, I’m wondering how the vision they saw of Lilith ripping Godric’s throat open affected Nora in particular, I still think Eric isn’t sold on the whole Lilith philosophy but of course he has to play along or he’ll meet the truth death, he need to figure out something and soon as for Nora it’s a possibility she’s finally seeing what Eric was talking about.

So lets assume Nora is on the good team now and assume Eric is also still on the good team, all they have to do is find a way to get rid of Salome, it’s easy to deal with Bill but Salome is tricky, she has to either die or everyone has to go against her for all this AVL nonsense to stop and of course Russell Edgington wasn’t going to play nice forever, I was just waiting for him to stop playing along, I saw the little flare ups every now and then, it was just a matter of time, now I think Bill and Eric are going to try to save Sookie.  I may be too much of a hopeless romantic but for some reason I think that Bill and Eric’s love for Sookie surpasses any hold Lilith’s blood might have on them, how they are going to escape the authority should be interesting.

I for one find the Russell and Steve relationship entertaining, it’s like Steve is slowly filling the void Talbot left, or is he just a rebound?  In  any case it’s good that Russell has a bit of a weakness with having Steve around because it’s going to be harder for them to stop him this time.  I’m thinking Russell isn’t planning to drain her but instead use her like a blood factory of some sort, this should add some more spice to the last two episodes just because I love to see Russell in action, am I the only one who noticed his accent totally changed when he got up on that table?

Pam and Tara are getting closer and I like it, I think being Pam’s progeny is the best thing that has happened to her across all seasons of this show and I think Tara is good for Pam too since she doesn’t have Eric right now and also they are kinda alike in their personalities.

I hope Luna and Sam get to leave with Emma, it would have me so much more helpful if she was a Wereshifter hybrid.

Sookie basically has two things to worry about now, one of which she has no idea is coming her way and this Warlow dude, I’m thinking Warlow wants to use her for the same purpose Russell does, I wonder if we will get some big show down with those too in the finale, hopefully Alan Ball stays true to True Blood traditions and gives us a massive shocker and cliffhanger for the finale.  I’m wondering why Sookie’s ancestor would strike that kind of deal with Warlow and why is he taking so long to appear? They must really be saving him for the finale.

I’m glad Hoyt finally decided to do something that makes sense I mean he was getting to be more and more imbecilic as the weeks progressed but trust me I was satisfied when he made the decision to go to Alaska, what I thought was chicken though was him telling Jessica to glamor him, I mean I get that he’s really hurt but he should man up and get over her in a natural way, anyway I have a feeling that he’ll get his memory back sooner or later.

I totally forgot that Jessica would also be somebody who could help Nora & Eric in my earlier hypothetical situation, Jessica is totally thinking Bill has gone psycho but that’s all probably overshadowed by Russell’s rant.

I didn’t take any screencaps this week because there wasn’t much worth screencapping, though it was a good episode, not awesome, but good.  I suppose they are going to show what’s up with Terry and Arlene and with Alcide and the wolves next week.

#Continuum S1E10 “Endtime” Mini-rant

So it’s pretty clear Kiera had sex with Kellog but seems she did it to get the shard of the device he stole or maybe only partially, she doesn’t strike me as the type to sleep with somebody for something, but who knows, losing her family in the future could be a strong motivator.  I just can’t believe Kellog wouldn’t think about that possibility.

I was hoping that some other random person had made it through to the past, well more like I thought that was likely to happen and I guess it did.

Everything just seems to be unraveling now, I knew that the new guy was a bit fruity but I thought maybe there was some fact to what he was saying, his time machine was pretty crazy, poor Kiera.

It seems as if Carlos doesn’t remember any of what Kiera told him in the last episode about er being from the future and if it wasn’t Kellog who helped Kiera then who was it, I don’t know why I think it’s her husband because that day he realized she was in the execution chamber he was all rattled, like he knew something was going down.

The ending was a serious cliffhanger for me.  I was reminded that this week was the finale, I totally forgot, so I guess we’ll all have to wait till next year to find out the reason why Kiera was sent back by Alec, I hope this show gets renewed.

#TheClientList S1E10 “Past Is Prologue” Finale Review

So I’m not sure if you guys have picked up on this, but Genie loves romance, so  you can guess that I was totally ecstatic when Evan and Riley finally kissed.  I was totally pissed though when  Kyle came back, who does he think he is? He disappears then he just shows back up when he feels like, not acceptable.  As I said in the last blog I hope Riley does not give him another chance and that she divorces him and dates Evan.  Many other things took place in the last episode that were shocking but lets see what this episode has in store.

First of all I am totally proud of Riley for being strong and not even giving Kyle the time of day, he does not deserve it after what he did.

Georgia really knows how to have a good time, I’ll give her that.

Georgia has the right thing in mind to leave town I just hope she leaves in time and that she makes sure than all the girl just do legit massages until the police stops hunting her down,  Eric Mabius’ character really seems to be causing a lot of issues for Georgia and by extension this is going to cause trouble for all the girls.  On a good note Georgia trusting Riley to run the spa is cool, well as long as all the trouble that is supposed to come down on Georgia doesn’t end up coming down on Riley instead.

That imbecile Kyle annoys me every time I see him in a scene, then he opens his mouth and I get even more upset, what does this dead-beat mean he doesn’t know if he’s back for good? Why come back at all unless you are sure? You already left her once for a year and you are really saying there’s a possibility you might leave her again? Then you ask Dale how you can ‘make’ her listen to you. Kyle astounds me.  Somebody needs to punch or smack him in this episode, it just need to happen, the man isn’t even explaining why he left and I doubt any explanation would be good enough anyway but he should at least give one.

I can’t believe Earl just died on the table like that, I can’t imagine this will be good especially with all the attention the rub is seemingly getting with the police on the lookout.

My gosh, it seems Ruth really hated Earl, can’t say I didn’t chuckle at her reaction when she heard he was dead, but he seemed like such a nice old man.  Poor Earl, rest in peace. Then when Ruth started to talk about Bud I almost fell off my chair, she’s a riot.  Well at least it seems they are out of the woods for any trouble that might have sprang from Earl dying in the spa, for now that is.

Seriously Kyle? Using the children to get to Riley, how crafty.  Does he realise he will only end up hurting the children when it goes sour? He’s just such an imbecile.

And as I predicted it did end up going sour, because Kyle did not even know his own daughter was allergic to peanut butter, why? Because he left his whole family without a word for a whole year. What a stand-up guy (sarcasm).

I knew Kyle’s explanation for leaving was going to suck, how can he not realise that he packed his bag and left? And even if he didn’t come back right after he supposedly realised even 1 day later wouldn’t have been as bad or maybe even a week, but a whole year, then now he expects to just waltz back in?  Please Evan, punch him.

And he came so close too.  But the way it went down it wouldn’t have been as satisfying to hit him right then.

I love Lacey and Riley’s relationship, they seem like such close friends.

Lacey approves of Evan and I do too, I mean who wouldn’t, that guy is perfect.  She was just as ecstatic as I was, except she went as far as thinking coitus took place, too hilarious.

I love when Riley put Selena in her place, that girl love to run her mouth way too much.

Now what is that police guy doing there again, this can’t be good.

Kyle really has the gall to say it was hard for him? He was the one that left? Who told him to leave his family? That imbecile. Then he says Riley was hard to come back to. Is he psychotic? Riley should have punched him, but those hard shoves were satisfying enough, he’s lucky Lacey came and broke it up.

Sorry to say but I wanted Kyle to see Riley and Evan together so he can know what pain feels like, after what he did to his family he deserves it and both Riley and Evan deserve to be happy, so Kyle just needs to go take an assigned seat, I’m totally glad Riley is still in a good place with Evan, so maybe next season we will see their relationship develop even more, that will make Genie very happy.

When Georgia called Riley I felt it in my bones that it wasn’t something good and that it might have had to do with the book she told Riley to hide, I was hoping it wasn’t bad, but knowing how shows are they always have to end with a cliff-hanger.  Let’s just say I was right about there being a cliff-hanger and exactly the one I thought it would be and of course that police dude had to be a part of it, though I must confess it would have had me even more anxious if it was Eric Mabius’ character who came on the scene, but then he isn’t a cop so that wouldn’t really happen.

In all  honesty, after Kyle’s more detailed explanation and reason for coming back, I’m still mad at him, in my opinion he could have tried to get psychological help with the support of his family instead of hightailing it out of town without so much as a note, so I still hope Riley does not go back to him, at the very least she should explore  the relationship with Evan to see if he is right for her and in my opinion he’s better for her than Kyle.

I seriously cannot wait for next season, this show turned out way better than I thought it would have been.  Every part of this finale was entertaining, never had a low moment.

#TheBorgias S2E10 “The Confession” Finale mini-rant

From the episode title alone I’m thinking this finale will centre around Cesare either confessing to his father that he killed Juan or his father finding out he did so, either way I predicted this finale would be epic.

Lucretzia just enjoys toying with her suitors way too much, she better hope this doesn’t cause her downfall.  I find it very entertaining though.

How does the Friar know that Michelletto is homosexual?

The look on Prince Alfonso’s face when he saw that Lucretzia was the girl he was talking to earlier, was priceless. Lucretzia is too hilarious, posing as a servant to check out his character.

Well if the man won’t give a confession then you forge it and that’s exactly what Cesare did. For some reason I found it hilarious when Cesare skipped off with the Friar’s supposed confession to heresy.

I’m not sure if Michelletto removing the Friar’s tongue is a good thing or not because if the people find out they may suspect the signed confession is false but I’m sure Cesare and Michelletto will cook up a plan.

I hope Cesare doesn’t get into trouble with the Pope, but I fear he will.  Lucretzia most likely suspects that Cesare killed Juan.

Of course the Pope would do no less than to talk to the Friar before he burns.  I actually felt sorry for him until he spit in the Pope’s face.  Who am I kidding I still kind of feel sorry for him.

By George seems Cesare did what I feared, he confessed he killed Juan to the Pope.  He should realise his father won’t look at him the same way anymore.

Poor Pope Alexander.  He’s the only one saddened by Juan’s death, truthfully Juan was a really hateful guy but I would still be sad about his death, especially if he was my own brother,  I can understand Lucretzia’s emotions though, I’m not so sure how sad I would be if I was Lucretzia.

Something tells me Mr. Creepy poisoned that wine and nobody will even suspect that something is fishy with this boy right now.

As I suspected the wine was poisoned, sigh, I don’t see any coming back from this, will there be a third season, this finale was definitely a big shock and therefore in my opinion, highly successful .  Don’t get me wrong I knew the day was coming when the creep would successfully poison the Pope but somehow I thought his plan wouldn’t succeed, hopefully he survives this because it didn’t look like  he drank that much wine.

As soon as I finished watching the finale I was definitely on a mad search to check if the show will be coming back for a 3rd season, fortunately I didn’t have to look far, spoilertv was there to the rescue: http://www.spoilertv.com/2012/05/borgias-renewed-for-3rd-season.html  Yes guys the show will be back for an epic 3rd season! I already can’t wait.  I know I didn’t say much in the finale but I think the sheer shock of all that was happening made it hard for me to put into words everything I was thinking, anyways, I hope you guys enjoy this mini-rant on the finale, till next time.
