Spartacus: War of The Damned “Spoils of War” Review

Summary of Points

I know Crassus felt well hype when he walked into Sinuessa and rightly so his plan was perfectly executed.

How I love a good battle scene and the fact that this episode basically began with one was very entertaining, when Gannicus decided to stay back and provide a “distraction” I wasn’t exactly happy about that as I’m sure most people also feel, of course we don’t want him to die and this situation seems grim.  The fact that we have 4 more episodes left makes it even more scary that any of our lead characters could die along the way.

I actually preferred Caesar when he looked like a so-called “rabid dog”, you guys agree?

It’s only a matter of time before Crassus finds out about Tiberius’  indiscretions.

I wonder what Caesar’s wife looks like for him to want to cheat on her with every pretty woman he lays eyes on. The man’s stare betrays him.

Well we knew that the Saletians made a deal with the romans since the last episode, but the extent of it wasn’t known, I swear them pirates seemed to have made the same deal with both Spartacus and Crassus and decided to fully honour the one that gave the most coin, the Edial’s wife is like a cat with nine lives, every time you think this woman is going to meet her end or some horrid fate, she somehow gets out of it.

I was pleasantly entertained when Caesar fought the gladiator (his name escapes me), Tiberius was quite cunning in setting that up but I knew the night couldn’t pass without him trying to inflict some sort of blow on Caesar, he really hates the man.  Caesar kinda looked like an imbecile when the gladiator took his own life before he could kill him and Crassus’ little speech after didn’t make it any better, at least not in my opinion.

I thought Gannicus was going to be done for in this episode since the beginning when he said he would stay back though I hoped not, when he was walking by and Caesar came around the corner at that exact moment, I was like “What are the odds?” But Gannicus is a hard man to kill just like Spartacus, so my hope wasn’t for nothing. Was satisfying that Gannicus kinda taught Caesar a lesson, I think Caesar is a bit too cocky about his skills, they are good but against people like Gannicus they are no match, especially if it was a fair fight.

We must all give Crassus rating where it is due, the man set up his plan perfectly, so now Spartacus and his hoarde are stuck at the  northern  gate, I’d want to hope that they get out of this but this is the final season and we know according to history, Spartacus falls, so hope right now would probably be wishful thinking.

I literally can’t wait till the next episode airs, as we get closer and closer to the finale everything is heating up.

The Bible Series “The Beginning” & “Exodus” Review

Summary of Points

Being a christian and someone who’s on a biblical journey, I was really happy to hear that they were going do a tv series adaption of the bible, in fact I’d always thought it would be a cool idea and finally someone decided to take that project on, I commend history channel and all the persons who worked on and will continue to work on this project.

So I was a bit bummed that the series didn’t start from the actual beginning of the bible, as in, from the point where God said let there be light, and the creation of Adam and Eve, but it would be an even more momentous project for them to portray every single chapter with every technical detail, starting from Noah’s Ark was not a bad starting point though, technically they did explore it through Noah but I had imagined it a different way.  It’s still valid how they did it though.  I take back what I said, the way they did it was ingenious because it’s perfectly valid that Noah would have told the story of the beginning to his family while in the Ark.

Seeing them portray the faith Abraham had in the Lord brought me to tears, to think his wife was Sarah was barren and the Lord told him that he would father a great nation and he had enough faith to get up with his whole family and leave their comfortable lands on the promise of God, that’s the kind of faith I want to have.

They took us from the beginning to the exodus in the first two episodes and it was an awesome ride to say the least, I enjoyed, it very much, they were some details we didn’t get to see but I don’t think they could have shown everything in the time slot and for those who don’t know what those details are I urge you to pick up the good book and take a gander at the pages.  There were so many thrilling scenes but my favourites would have to be when Sarah gave birth to Isaac, when Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed, when God sent the plagues on egypt and when God gave moses the power to part the water so the  Israelites  could cross.  Aside from that the actors really did a great job of portraying each of their parts.

I can’t wait till the next episode. I definitely recommend this series.

Spartacus: War of The Damned “Blood Brothers” Review

Summary of Points

Agron needs to chill I highly doubt the little man is cheating on him..

I still don’t trust the pirates though it’s like they always have to change up whatever deal they make ever so slightly instead of just sticking to the initial plan..

Yes I knew that Crassus admired spartacus and for good reason because he know spartacus isn’t an imbecile, if I’d want anyone to defeat Spartacus, which I DON’T, but if I wanted that Crassus would be the best person to defeat him, I rate Crassus so much, plus Crassus and Spartacus backgrounds are somewhat similar so I can see where Crassus would admire him..

I swear Crixus is looking like a real imbecile, not to mention Naevia, but she’s been looking like one for a while now, I actually wanted to laugh when I saw his reaction to what Caesar/Lisiscus said about Spartacus getting ready to depart with the Saletians..actually Naevia is pissing me off like Nora is pissing me off in Being Human US, they are so similar it’s not funny..Crixus is blindly listening to Caesar/Lisiscus and he don’t even know him, how quickly he turned his back on Spartacus, this is all Naevia’s doing..

So Spartacus is still trying to convince Gannicus to take a leadership role, I think even though he says he doesn’t want it if Spartacus does fall he would definitely take up the position, if not for Spartacus, he’d do it for the memory of Oenomaus..

Spartacus made a good move taking the grain for Crassus’ soldiers but I didn’t expect any less, also his elaborate rouse that involved taking advantage of Crixus’ somewhat lower level intellect was perfect, Crixus took the bait so easily, this plan sounds like it will definitely work, I’m wondering though if they are going to stay true to the history or not..

I love how Crassus is the only one not underestimating Spartacus and rightly so, gosh darn it I rate this man, and just as I was about to say I feel totally sorry for Tiberius and say how I think Crassus went too far, then Tiberius proceeds to rape his father’s mistress..

So Naevia finally decided to own up to her rubbish and I’m glad Gannicus stuck it to her, because she needed to hear that because she learned some skill in fighting now she’s abusing it and is feeling way too empowered for her own good, she needs to sit back and take a chill pill.

My gosh, Crassus is extremely smart I mean I did not expect that at all, I knew he had some plan but I honestly didn’t expect that ending I mean wow, but I guess I was right about the pirates not being trustworthy…when Crixus flew down to aid Spartacus I was like Yessss and it was all so thrilling, I love the battle scenes in Spartacus and let me tell you I’m not the biggest action fan but Spartacus does it for me..

That final scene when the door was smashed down with fire and the wooden wolf, I was so ecstatic but at the same time freaked out for Spartacus and the others, I have no idea how they are going to get out of all of this but I think it’s a bit early in the season for them to lose, I literally cannot wait till next week, this has been the best episode for the season, I don’t even think I have to mention Caesar, the man is like a cockroach…he showed form against Gannicus and Agron…

Spartacus: War of The Damned S01E01 “Enemies of Rome” mini-rant

I’m sure all fans of the Spartacus series will agree with me on this, that the wait was so  excruciatingly  long but entirely worth it.  The opening scene was nothing short of epic, one of the things this show has going for it is the dramatic effects, though some people have an issue with it not being realistic enough in my opinion that’s part of what makes it so entertaining to watch.  Spartacus coming out on that horse and just swooshing his sword about slaughtering those romans was indeed entertaining not to mention the look on the guy’s face (commander dude?) when he  realized  Spartacus did not come alone.  As odd and demented as it may sound I missed all the blood and gore, the thrilling heat of virtual battle, suspense, I missed it all.  Was epic seeing Saxa in battle.

I already give Crassus ratings, the man is getting himself trained by a legit gladiator, he will prove to be a formidable foe to Spartacus.  I can’t wait to see when those two are face to face, it will probably be an awesome fight.  He won’t be as imbecilic as the others, naturally.

Naevia showed form! I mean wow, it is just awesome to see these women fighting alongside the men in battle. Love her new hair style too.  I just love how the scenery is always legit in this show, I always feel like I’m there, yunno like when you read a good book and you feel like you’re a part of the story, same feeling, and the slow-mos are always placed at the right parts.

Casinius and Furius’ (hope I spelled those right) bodies absent head falling into the bath of the villa as Spartacus was showered by their blood while their heads fell to the floor was another awesome scene in this episode, words  escape  me to give a proper detailed review I mean the episode mostly speaks for itself.

I can’t wait till next week when they attempt to take a city, which I know they will mostly likely get, it’ll be awesome. I love that Saxa and Gannicus are hooking up and I hope to see Spartacus get another love interest this season, I know it’ll be hard for him after what’s happened to his past women but hopefully if he does happen to get one she’ll be able to stand by his side till the end without dying off.  Overall as you can probably tell I thoroughly enjoyed the episode and I’m so glad Spartacus is back.

Arrow S01E11 “Trust But Verify” mini-rant

This is one show that I almost didn’t buy into at first but this season has gotten better and better, that isn’t to say it has achieved “epic” status in Genie’s opinion but it is pretty good.

Now this episode was pretty good, finally the mother’s deception is being slowly uncovered and I do believe Oliver may just explore that next week.  I’ve come to have a slight fear of car crashes since the season finale of Downton Abbey, you’d think that show is all light and airy but looks can be  deceiving   you don’t know how much grief us fans have experienced…anyways, back to Arrow.

I knew that Tommy’s father wasn’t being completely straight up when he called Tommy to have dinner with him, I could just see it on his face that he wasn’t genuine, not sure what his motive is from wanting to shut down the charity but I guess we’ll find out.

I’m losing my edge because I didn’t even think that the asian dude in the island with Oliver was working against him, well at least not until I saw the theme of this episode “Trust but verify” , makes complete sense, at least now Diggle knows that.  I hope Diggle and his sister in law hook up, that would be nice to see.

Another coupling I’d ship is Oliver and the techie girl at the company though I feel like if it does happen which is probable that it may cause issues for her.

I can’t wait to see the continuation of what happened with Oliver and his asian friend on the island, hopefully it was all an act or something, not sure how to get around that but we’ll see.

So it’s pretty clear Kiera had sex with Kellog but seems she did it to get the shard of the device he stole or maybe only partially, she doesn’t strike me as the type to sleep with somebody for something, but who knows, losing her family in the future could be a strong motivator.  I just can’t believe Kellog wouldn’t think about that possibility.

I was hoping that some other random person had made it through to the past, well more like I thought that was likely to happen and I guess it did.

Everything just seems to be unraveling now, I knew that the new guy was a bit fruity but I thought maybe there was some fact to what he was saying, his time machine was pretty crazy, poor Kiera.

It seems as if Carlos doesn’t remember any of what Kiera told him in the last episode about er being from the future and if it wasn’t Kellog who helped Kiera then who was it, I don’t know why I think it’s her husband because that day he realized she was in the execution chamber he was all rattled, like he knew something was going down.

The ending was a serious cliffhanger for me.  I was reminded that this week was the finale, I totally forgot, so I guess we’ll all have to wait till next year to find out the reason why Kiera was sent back by Alec, I hope this show gets renewed.

#Continuum S1E9 “Family Time” Mini-rant

So last week I was hoping that Kagame & Liber8 wouldn’t figure out that Alec was the one helping Kiera so quickly but I know better than to underestimate Kagame, the man has sense, now the problem is I’m thinking in this episode they will be concentrating their efforts on trying to locate Alec, that won’t be good.

It seems that Kellog never wanted to be a part of Liber8 from the beginning, I’m betting there’s some deeper story here we’ll be finding out in this episode or the next.  Maybe something along the lines of him joining liber8 because of his sister and getting entangled in it, who knows? I’m just speculating here.

Well we see Kagame is not wasting any time rallying troops.  Alec’s brother seems like he just loves to hate, Alec needs to be straight up with Kiera because right now his brother could very well end up dead from being entagled with Liber8.

I was really touched when Kiera made that confession to Carlos, I wonder if he’ll remember after he recovers, probably not, but if he does I’m sure that will probably make him think Kiera is crazy.  I still ship these two and I still think they will end up together this season.

Boy am I glad Kiera’s suit is fully functional again, I’m sure she is too.

I’m pretty bummed that Alec’s step-dad died, he didn’t deserve that at all, I knew someone would die this episode but I never imagined it would be him and as predicted the trouble was caused by Alec’s step-brother’s affiliation with Liber8.  I really can’t understand how Liber8 can justify taking innocent lives, nothing is worth that much.

I would ship Kellog and Kiera but I just don’t think she likes him that way at all plus I like her for Carlos better for some reason, maybe because I want Kellog for myself. LOL.  I may yet be proven wrong about her not liking Kellog though, seems like she wasn’t pushing off his advanced, it may just be because she’s sad though.

This may sound evil, but Julian shouldn’t even be alive, I’m upset that his father died and he’s still around and still with Liber8.

I can’t wait to see if there was coitus between Kellog and Kiera and how she’ll be rocking the suit from now on.

#Continuum S1E7 The Politics of Time Mini-rant

In a couple of my posts on this series I’m sure I mentioned that I thought Carlos likes Kiera, now Carlos having coitus with an old girlfriend does not change this in my opinion, I still think at some point something will develop between them but I won’t say I wasn’t upset that he gave in and had sex with his ex, but then maybe I can’t blame him since Kiera is kinda closed off right now, given she’s married and still hasn’t fully given up on being able to go back to the future.

To be honest at the beginning of the episode I wasn’t really thinking about liber8 since the only person we saw for most of it that even had any slight connection to them was Kellog.  Silly me to not think about that, of course they would have something to do with all of this after Kagame’s speech and their new plan, etc.

I think it’s possible Kiera might have an inkling that liber8 is a part of the murder, but what I’m interested to see is how she is going to stop them, also on a different note I can’t wait to see Kiera’s suit up and running and I had this thought that Alec may try to duplicate the technology of her suit and maybe build his own suit.

All of what’s happening I’m still interested to see how it affects the future the fact that Kellog didn’t die when his grandmother died is still a point of contention because until we figure out the science behind that we won’t know if all that liber8 is doing is going to be at all effective and if all the hope Kiera has is futile,

I can’t till the next episode, I’m really falling in love with this show, for some reason it reminds me so much of the ABC show V that got canceled, I hope this show gets renewed for a second season.

Oddly enough this episode was the only episode I can recall I never had the slightest idea who was behind the murder all the way until the end and that’s a good thing because I hate when a show is too predictable.

Side note, I was totally bummed I didn’t get any of the gear the continuum’s twitter was giving away as prizes, well I hope I get something next time, I’d like to go walk the streets here in Jamaica with my Continuum shirt, like an ultimate fan, probably get some more people into the show!

Sorry I had no screencaps this week, I used my ubuntu partition and you might have an idea how that goes.

#Continuum S1E5 “A Test of Time” Review

After all that happened in the last episode I was definitely looking forward to this episode, I mean what was that device that penetrated a body and a couple floors of a building? And Kiera meeting Alec, this will definitely open new doors for the two, I hope he gets her suit fixed.  We also found out that Kagame didn’t have his own device to time travel as I originally thought, there was just a delay for him because of his position in relation to the device.

Well I figured that the path Kagame is telling the group to take was the one they were already planning to take but I guess I was wrong, anyways it works out because that’s what Kagome is leading them into, I’m interested to see how all this plays out and how Kiera will get them under control.  I hope she now thinks that since Kagome has arrived that her current strategy to catch them will have to be altered.  All in all we should definitely not underestimate Kagame, I think Kellog might be in some serious trouble  soon.

I have a feeling that Alec’s step-brother will cause some issues for him in the future, I just don’t trust that dude.

I wonder if the woman (Lily Jones) Liberate killed Kiera’s ancestor or maybe her husband’s, could be just a member of her family, either way this woman seems to be of some importance to Kiera but I wonder why they wouldn’t just hold the woman hostage instead of snapping her neck,  this way I don’t see how they can stop Kiera from trying to end their plan.

So seems like I was right Lily was Kiera’s ancestor, this is going to cause some serious problems in the future, won’t this mean Kiera and her son will never exist?  But in my opinion that’s a stupid move by liberate because now it’s almost like Kiera has nothing to lose.

Well looks like Kellog is trying to save his ass. LOL  I really don’t know what to believe with this guy, it seems like he really does want to start over but now it seems he wants to re-join liberate, unless he’s only doing this to save his own skin from possibly being targeted, I haven’t figured out his angle yet.

Looks like Kellog might still be on team Kiera, so maybe going back to liberate was all just a ruse to gain their trust and help Kiera in the process, but I’m still sceptical about him, I need something more concrete before I can surely say which side he’s really on.  He is playing a dangerous game though because Kagome isn’t stupid, I think he might be unto whatever he’s planning.

Well Thank God it’s not Kiera’s grandmother, well I hope it’s not, the DNA results are still out on that one, I’m also wondering if Kiera’s ancestor is killed if she would die is the past-present or not.  I love to see when my theories get proven but I am disappointed that Kagome went after that Lily Jones without even knowing if it was actually Kiera’s ancestor, what he should have done is taken her DNA first, then after try and find her grandmother or at least as I said before taken that Lily hostage, I mean they aren’t even sure if this will get rid of Kiera.  I would have preferred a better plan from Kagame.

Alec really, really need to be careful about how he talks to his step-brother, this boy is plotting something and Alec is just pushing his buttons.

I had to chuckle when Kiera finally met the right Lily Jones, her grandmother, totally not what she expected I’m sure.  But to be fair, she heard she had a tattoo, so if we were to get stereotypical, would you imagine some goody-two-shoes looking girl with tattoos on her wrists? I think not.  The smartest ones are always the weirdest and definitely the coolest :)

It’s a pleasant/unpleasant surprise t find out little Lily Jones is pregnant, pleasant because she’s bringing a bundle of joy into the world that will one day become Kiera’s mother, unpleasant because this just makes it even more dangerous and harder for Kiera to protect her, if the Liberate find out about this I bet they will be more than thrilled.

I knew Kagame would catch up with Kellog, I didn’t imagine it would be so soon, but Kellog should know better than to underestimate Kagame.  I wonder how all this is going to pan out.

Did I state how much I love the future technology in this show, absolutely love it.

Kellog did what I figured he would do and got in touch with Kiera, nicely played.  I have no doubt Kiera will get him out of this mess or at least his grandmother.  Anyways it looks like Kagame is not following his own rules, that is, not killing any of their own, well technically since Kellog is helping Kiera he’s not one of them but who knows how far the rule extends.

Well it seems like killing their ancestors won’t cause them to not exist in the past-present, I’m pretty bummed that Kellog’s grandmother died though, but at least I was right that one or both of them would make it out of there alive, crappy it turned out to just be one.

Alec is right, Kellog is definitely going to cash-in on his favour.

So apparently Kagame did not order Travis to shoot Kellog’s grandmother, so this means he still goes by the rules, well that’s one point in his favour.  Travis seems to want to take over as leader of liberate and get rid of Kagame, if he succeeds I don’t imagine anything good will come of that, that man’s solution to everything is guns and killing, rabid dog indeed.

I’m interested to find out the science behind why Kagame is still alive, if it’s because this present timeline isn’t connected to the future or some other reason, it should definitely be intriguing.  Next week should be a treat.
