#TrueBlood S5E12 “Save Yourself” Review
So for the past couple episodes I haven’t been doing any screencaps in my reviews, why? You ask, because I just haven’t been feeling this season as much and so I really couldn’t be bothered to make any screencaps, but since this is the finale review I will indulge you guys with some screencaps, I am hoping that unlike the season as a whole, Alan Ball will bring it in this finale as he as done in all past seasons, from what I have seen online also the response to this finale has been shocking, that is, people seem to be shocked, whether it’s a good or bad shock I’m not sure, but here we go!
WOW. The episode started off on a shocking note, I like this, I mean I can’t lie I love Russell, he’s my favorite villain, but at some point he would have to go, THANK YOU Eric and BYE BYE Russell Edgington.
After seeing the sneak peak for this episode I figured that something went down with Jason after the Fae elder zapped him but accident, in fact I thought that from the moment it happened, I was like “this wouldn’t be true blood if Jason got fairy-zapped and nothing happened as a result of it.” I originally thought maybe he turned into a form of medium like Lafayette is but somewhat different, but now it’s looking like his mind is just altered, possibly something fixable.
I seriously don’t get the direction Alcide’s storyline has taken, I mean how can they play up the romance and then all of a sudden he is with his father seemingly far away from any women, I don’t see it’s relevance right now.
I’m sorry but Jane Bodehouse exists?? LOL I totally forgot about her, True Blood finales have a way of bringing back characters we forgot about.
I’m sorry but Morella giving birth was kinda hilarious, I mean the woman said her light broke.
Finally, at almost the end of the episode they make sense out of Alcide’s storyline, it came together nicely unlike I thought it would have been. Alcide on V is HOT.
The way Sam killed Rosalyn was awesome yet so wrong, I’m seriously wondering what villain are they going to fabricate next season since they seem to be determined to kill all the villains around the place, not even just to incapacitate them but getting rid of them in a way they can’t possibly come back from.
The Eric and Nora scene where they killed all those guards at the authority was EPIC! LOL They stomped on them like ants.
Well I guess the whole Tara liking Pam assertion turned out to be true, I don’t know how I feel about this pairing to be honest.
OMG I seriously did not see that coming. I thought they would have gotten Bill out of there and changed his mind, I mean the man truly spiraled out of control, there goes my dream ship of Sookie and Bill getting back together. I won’t lie, I’m pissed they killed off Bill, he’s one of my favorite characters and he was integral to everything from the beginning, this is like Game of Thrones all over again for me, I will definitely say this finale is quite shocking, I guess because I couldn’t fathom they would ever kill Bill or any of those main plot characters that have been there from the pilot episode.
After ranting in the previous paragraph I witnessed Bill rising up from the blood like Lilith did a couple episodes before, now what the hell does that mean? This whole Lilith thing got confusing since the first time I saw her rise from the blood. Anyways at least my ship still has some hope. I’m still not sold on Lilith being a real deity, something is just odd about it all, if Lilith turns out to be a god then I’d be disappointed in how they manifested her, it would make more sense to me if that blood was from some other supernatural creature that can have that effect on vampires, the only thing that would be slightly out of place is Bill exploding and then reforming, anyways I don’t think I’m going to speculate any more about that, I will wait to see what the new director and the writers bring till next season.
Finally, I’ll just say this, season 5 in general has been mostly a disappointment but this finale at least stayed true to the shocking True Blood style, I enjoyed it because it kept me on the edge of my seat, even if certain things didn’t go down the way I wanted, it was still fast paced, full of suspense and the important story-lines were tied up quite nicely. I can’t wait for Season 6 and I hope it blows this season and the rest out of the water with awesome.
Look out for my screencaps of the episode tomorrow, I will be posting them as photosets.
